Our background from start-up was financial typesetting for stock exchange-listed companies. Through the production of this work over many years it has become second nature to hit all deadlines and budgets, produce high-quality work and remain security conscious at all times.

​

Our typesetting platforms are Indesign and QuarkXPress, we also produce presentations in Powerpoint and Microsoft Word. Each package uses bespoke blacklining to track changes through the proofing cycle of the document. DCS can produce stock exchange compliant clean, blacklined, strikethrough and compare PDFs.

Collaboration

During the design and typesetting proofing process amendments have traditionally been supplied as manuscript mark-ups, PDF annotations and email instructions. With working from home becoming more common in recent times we decided to develop a more collaborative approach to the process.

After consultations with various clients it became clear that they would like the option to be able to edit the most recent proof in Microsoft Word. The initial drafts are supplied in word so why not carry on the process using word for the remaining proofing. It also became clear that online editing tools used by designers and printers can cause issues internally with IT security policies.

We now offer a fully formatted word document at each stage as well as the traditional PDF method. The word file we supply back is NOT a Word Conversion quickly created from Acrobat. Using import and export XML technology in Indesign only the changes made in the word document will be imported back into the Indesign file and will be shown as track changes in the PDF proof.
